REDCAR'S Terry Bywater couldn't hide his disappointment after Great Britain's bid for wheelchair basketball gold at the Visa Paralympic World Cup came to an end at the semi-final stage.
The 2005 champions produced their best display of the tournament but fell agonisingly short as Paralympic Games champions Canada ran out 53-41 winners.
And for Bywater, who contributed five points to the Great Britain cause, it was even more frustrating as the bitter memories of last year's final defeat, also at the hands of Canada, came flooding back.
"It was disappointing as we started slowly and couldn't claw it back," said Bywater.
"We know we are better than that and the gap between Canada and ourselves is much smaller that that.
"They beat us last year and have done it again, which is hard to accept.
"But we have a lot to look forward to."
Canada will now face Australia as they bid to become the first team to defend their title, while Britain will take on the Netherlands for the bronze medal.
Bywater added: "We want to go out on a high and show everyone we are better than that performance."
* Visa was the first sponsor of the Paralympic Games and their support will continue through to the London 2012 Games as Visa help bring Paralympic sport to a global audience.
