THIS afternoon's race meeting at Wetherby will go ahead as scheduled after passing a precautionary inspection at 8.30am.
Temperatures dipped down to minus 3C at the Yorkshire circuit overnight, colder than track officials were anticipating.
Clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson felt it prudent to check on conditions at daybreak and he is happy temperatures will rise sufficiently ahead of the first race at 12.10pm.
Sanderson said: "We were a bit concerned temperatures would drop again at daybreak, but they haven't dropped at all, really, so we're good to go.
"The temperatures we had overnight were never going to be enough to stop us racing. It was just a question of whether they would dip again when the sun came up, which they haven't.
"It's still just below freezing, but between 9am and 10am temperatures are due to start creeping up and by 11am or 12pm we should be up to 5C."
