REDCAR potter Mike Dunn admits he struggled to get into the game as he crashed out of the UK Snooker Championship in the second round.
The 43-year-old went down 6-1 to Joe Perry, with a break of 60 in frame two his highest of the night at the York Barbican.
Dunn dispatched Andrew Pagett 6-2 in the opening round, but was not able to find the same form on Sunday as Perry showed his class.
“I am very disappointed in myself,” he said. “My long ball game was phenomenal and I did not miss many at all but I just did not score.
“There was nothing at all I could do to get in; I just seemed to go awkward and scrappy, and Joe being the class player he is seemed to be scoring out of nothing really.
“There were a lot of kicks, a lot of balls drifting off which we both struggled with to be honest.
“Joe is such a great player that can score from virtually nothing on the table. That is not my game, I’m a different player who likes to get the balls open but I just couldn’t get the game to where I wanted it today.”
Dunn has had a mixed season to date, which a fourth-round exit at the Haining Open in China his best result so far.
But the world No.51 is just happy to be able to continue to ply his trade playing snooker, and is already thinking about what he will do when he quits the game.
He added: “I’m just happy at my age I can still make a living doing this. I’m never going to set the world alight but I’ll keep going winning where I can, and if I lose, I lose.
“I’m heading to Portugal next where I am looking forward to going to another snooker tournament, enjoying the game and picking up a bit of money.
“I have an option of going out to coach in China and that is there for me whenever I want it. So when I have had enough of the game I will go out there and do some coaching but for now I am just plodding on.
“I have always said if I can stay in the game to 45 I will be quite happy so that gives me another year or two and then we’ll see what happens.”
