Gavin Cogdon inspired Spennymoor to a 1-1 draw at Farsley in the EvoStik League First Division North tonight.
Cogdon came on as a second half sub, and lifted the Moors attack, as they stretched their unbeaten run to five league and cup matches.
Farsley had the better of the early chances, with Lewis Nightingale shooting wide from distance, and then Moors full back Kallum Griffiths popped up on the line to clear from Robbie O’Brien.
Moor had chances at the other end, and Andrew Stephenson had a close range shot cleared off the line, and Chris Mason had another shot well saved by keeper Tommy Taylor.
But Farsley broke through on 32 minutes when Adam Priestley, who just a fortnight ago was playing for Gibraltar against Germany, fired into the bottom corner with Adam McHugh helpless.
Moors nearly levelled immediately, but Anthony Peacock was denied by Taylor.
Moors boss Jason Ainsley made two substitutions on the resumption, and it was Michael Roberts’ replacement, Cogdon, who got the equaliser on 66 minutes when Nathan Fisher flicked a through ball on for him to fire past Taylor.
Cogdon’s goal increased the tempo of the game and he nearly set up a second for John McReady, but the midfielder blazed over, and then Cogdon beat a defender and fired into the side netting.
Team; McHugh, Griffiths, Mason, Dodds, Tait, Capper, Stephenson (sub McReady 45), Henry, Fisher, Roberts (sub Cogdon 45), Peacock (sub Johnson 90).
Subs not used: Groves, Green.
