MARK Sampson has named four North-East-born players in his England starting line-up to play Germany in a historic fixture at Wembley Stadium.
Steph Houghton, Demi Stokes, Lucy Bronze and Jordan Nobbs are all in the side with Jill Scott and Carly Telford on the bench.
Houghton, from South Hetton, County Durham, will captain the Lionesses in the first women’s international played at the national stadium.
Around 55,000 tickets have been sold for the game against the European champions, which will be the highest ever attendance at a women’s game in the country.
Midfielder Karen Carney will lead England out on the day she receives her 100th cap.
England will also be looking to score their first win over Germany with their last encounter ending in a 6-2 defeat in the final of the 2009 European Championships.
Both sides have already qualified for next year’s World Cup in Canada.
