THE NORTHERN ECHO has been praised by the judges in the ECB’s fourth annual County Cricket Journalism Awards.
The newspaper was commended in the Regional Newspaper of the Year category, with the judges impressed by its comprehensive coverage of both Durham and Yorkshire over the course of the season.
Vithushan Ehantharajah, who covers county cricket for Cricinfo, was named the Christopher Martin-Jenkins Young Journalist of the Year.
Richard Rae, who commentates on Leicestershire’s matches for BBC Radio Leicester, won the Christopher Martin-Jenkins County Broadcaster of the Year award.
The Cricket Paper won the National Newspaper of the Year award for the second successive year, with The Yorkshire Post taking the Regional Newspaper of the Year award and ESPN Cricinfo receiving the Online Publication award for the third year in a row.
