HARTLEPOOL UNITED’S FA Cup second round tie against Blyth Spartans has been moved to Friday, December 5 (7:55pm kick-off) after being selected for live television broadcast on BBC2.
It’s the first time Pools have been selected for live television coverage in the FA Cup since they hosted Premier League West Ham United back in January 2009.
Paul Murray’s men made it to round two with a 2-0 win over East Thurrock United, while Spartans produced a shock 4-1 win over Conference Premier side Altrincham to reach this stage of the competition for the first time since 2008/09.
It’s the first time Pools have taken on the Northumberland outfit since 1961 when a hat-trick from Bobby Folland and goals from Ken Johnson and Barry Parkes secured a 5-1 FA Cup win at The Vic.
All clubs featuring in the BBC/BT Sport live broadcasts will receive £72,000 from The FA while the winners will get an extra £27,000 in FA Cup prize money.
