AIDAN O’BRIEN has supplemented Geoffrey Chaucer for the 145th Deutsches Derby at Hamburg on Sunday.
Joining the Ballydoyle runner is the Charlie Appleby-trained Pinzolo, who was also added to the field at a cost of 65,000 euro.
An unlucky third in the Derrinstown Derby Trial on his seasonal reappearance, Geoffrey Chaucer came home last of the 16 runners behind stablemate Australia in the Investec Derby, but was hampered during the race and not given a hard time by Ryan Moore.
Pinzolo fared a little better in beating two home, having previously accounted for the useful Master Carpenter in the Fairway Stakes at Newmarket.
Leading the home defence is Sea The Moon, an unbeaten son of Sea The Stars trained by Markus Klug.
Klug has another contender in the filly Weltmacht, second in a Group Two at Hoppegarten and set to be ridden by Tom Queally.
Another major player is likely to be the Jens Hirschberger-trained Wild Chief, who was fourth to The Grey Gatsby in the French Derby.
