RIZEENA is likely to get the chance to break her Newmarket duck in the Qipco Falmouth Stakes on July 11.

Clive Brittain’s star filly bounced back to her best with an authoritative display in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot last week, following up her win in the Queen Mary over five furlongs last year.

Rizeena has won five of her 10 races, yet four of her defeats have come at Headquarters, prompting her handler to suggest she is maybe not at her best on the track.

However, owner Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum’s racing manager Bruce Raymond felt she probably needed the run in the 1000 Guineas, in which she finished seventh.

“It was good to see her back to her best,” said Raymond.

“She was cruising all the way and Ryan (Moore) was always in the right position, as he always is, and looked happy.

“I imagine it will be the Falmouth next. I have no worries about her running below par at Newmarket.

“I know she has never won there, but it’s only in the Guineas when she been well beaten and I think she probably needed the run more than we expected that day.

“She possibly doesn’t come down the hill as well as some but she nearly won the Fillies’ Mile.

“I thought she looked a totally different filly at Ascot compared to the Guineas, but then a lot of horses do.”
