AARON Finch has notched his third first-class century and his first in a Yorkshire shirt as the visitors increase their stranglehold on the LV= County Championship match against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.
The Australian has shown he is capable of transferring his stunning limited overs form to the longer format as the White Rose have reached tea on day two at 345-5 from 88 overs in reply to 228.
Finch has reached tea at 103 not out and Rich Pyrah 43 not out. Yorkshire are 117 ahead.
Jonny Bairstow, for 68, was the only wicket to fall during the afternoon when he chopped Boyd Rankin onto his stumps following an attempted pull shot, leaving Yorkshire at 242-5 in the 63rd over.
Finch and Pyrah have since shared an unbroken 103 for the sixth wicket to take their side beyond 300 and secure a third batting point in the process. Bonus points four and five will surely come after tea.
Finch moved from 86 to 100 in the blink of an eye in the 85th over, by which time Warwickshire had taken the new ball. He hit Keith Barker for six over cover, 17 rows back, before thrashing him for four through the same region. He then pulled through mid-wicket for four to reach a 128-ball ton.
