ANTONY Sweeney, the long-serving Hartlepool United midfielder, has agreed terms with Carlisle United.
The club captain has rejected a new deal to stay at at Victoria Park and leaves after 13 seasons at Pools. However, he made only four starts under boss Colin Cooper last season as he found himself out of favour and sidelined by injury.
Ironically, his Pools debut came at Carlisle on the opening day of the 2002/3 promotion season and he will team up at Brunton Park with ex-Pools teammate Matty Robson.
The Northern Echo revealed two weeks ago that Sweeney had held talks with Carlisle boss Graham Kavanagh and he will sign a two-year deal with the club, relegated from League One last season.
