MAISON BRILLET holds watertight claims when he runs beneath the Kempton floodlights in pursuit of a second course-and-distance success.

Clive Drew’s seven-year-old is not getting any quicker, but connections of the gelded son of Pyrus must surely fancy their chances ahead of the Mix Business With Pleasure At Kempton Handicap.

A winner at Kempton in December 2010, Maison Brillet is now back at the same mark off which he decisively struck over a mile and a half at Lingfield a year ago.

He was, admittedly, a little subdued back in Surrey at the beginning of December, but Drew will have been thrilled by his second-placed finish upon his return to action on Valentine’s Day.

Maison Brillet gave Waving a major fright in a Lingfield handicap over a mile and five furlongs, but eventually succumbed by just a neck.

The form looks strong, too, as the winner that day followed up by nearly two lengths at Wolverhampton on Friday.

He clearly has a lot going for him in what appears, on paper at least, a pretty moderate encounter.

Global Explorer’s consistency utterly warrants a return to winning ways in the Book Now For Silver Cups Day 15.03.14 Handicap.

Stuart Williams’ three-yearold has not yet been out of the first three in five starts this year, and is seemingly not yet hamstrung by the assessor judged by his most recent effort over this course and distance a week ago.

Global Explorer finished third behind Major Crispies and Drive On in a far better six-furlong handicap than this one, yet has gone unpunished on a mark of 64.

Adam Beschizza gets on very well with the gelded son of Henrythenavigator so it is good to see the partnership renew acquaintance.

Global Explorer might be at the summit of the weights, but hidden dangers beneath him are in short supply.

Easily Pleased is quite a confident pick in the Higos Insurance Services Platinum Novices’ Handicap Hurdle at Wincanton.

Trained in Devon by Martin Hill, the eight-year-old has already had a pretty varied career, and was particularly useful in the point-to-point arena.

But it appears he has found his niche over fences, with a most convincing victory at Newton Abbot in the summer testament to that theory.

Easily Pleased was then sent back to the Devon track in October and showed further promise to take second spot behind Notarfbad.

Hill’s charge has jumped cleanly since he went chasing and is probably the least exposed member of this party on what remains a reasonable weight.

Moreover, the likelihood of testing ground should not be an issue as he handled heavy going when trained in Ireland by Mouse Morris.

Presence Felt can seize the moment in the Hampton Veterinary Group Handicap Chase at Bangor.

The six-year-old gelding was an eyecatcher on his chasing bow at Haydock over Christmas, but could not consolidate that run at Market Rasen in January.
