LIVERPOOL manager Brendan Rodgers insists there are ‘‘no limits’’ to his team’s ambition after they closed to just four points behind Barclays Premier League leaders Chelsea.
Rodgers has been careful to play down his team’s title prospects, and following a 3-2 win at Fulham he was keen to stress the sides ahead of Liverpool would have to falter over the closing months of the season to give the Reds a sniff.
But Steven Gerrard’s late penalty winner at Craven Cottage kept up Liverpool’s recent momentum, as they stayed fourth, three points ahead of Tottenham.
Chelsea lead the way, followed by Arsenal and Manchester City, but Rodgers is delighted with the progress his players are making.
‘‘It was a great win for us,’’ Rodgers said. ‘‘Yet again the team showed great character and we got three points.’’ Looking at the title race, he added on BBC Radio Five Live: ‘‘I think it’s still the other teams’ to lose.
“They’ve more points than us.
We’ll just go into each game trying to improve on every facet of our game.
‘‘The players are doing magnificently at the moment and we’re certainly showing great signs of improvement.’’
