NEWCASTLE United have suspended reserve team manager Willie Donachie for allegedly striking a player.
Remie Streete is reported to be the player struck by 62-year-old Donachie during an incident immediately after a 2-0 defeat to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Monday evening.
Streete, a 19-year-old defender, became a regular in the reserves towards the end of the 2010-11 season.
Donachie is a former Manchester City left-back and was appointed as the Magpies' assistant director of their academy in 2009 before taking charge of the reserve team in October 2011.
The incident comes days after Joe Kinnear quit as Newcastle's director of football.
