ARSENAL are considering a move for Swansea striker Michu as Arsene Wenger prepares for a summer of investment.

Various names have been linked with a move to the Emirates, most notably Wayne Rooney and Gonzalo Higuain, and now Michu has also emerged as a contender to lead the Gunners' attack.

The Spaniard only joined Swansea last summer, but enjoyed a prolific season which saw him score 22 goals during the campaign.

SEVILLA have rejected a £14.5m bid from West Ham for Spain striker Alvara Negredo.

The Hammers, who are also close to completing a deal for Andy Carroll, are hoping to add two centre-forwards this summer.

But having agreed a £17m deal with Manchester City for winger Jesus Navas, Sevilla president Jose Maria Del Nido insists his club are under no pressure to sell another of their stars.

"West Ham offered 17m (euros) with more in incentives but we do not value the offer and the player refused," he said. "He has four years left on his contract and is at home here. He has scored a lot of goals and delighted us with his football."

SHAKHTAR DONETSK winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan continues to be targeted by Liverpool, who have been watching the £22m-rated Armenian for some months.

Mkhitaryan scored 25 goals last season from midfield and is courted by Barcelona, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City.

However, none of these clubs have made their interest serious in the 24-year-old, while Liverpool have watched him in action week in week out in order to secure his signature.

REDS target Oscar Cardozo could still leave Benfica despite recently signing a new long-term deal.

The striker's agent, Aldave Pedro, has revealed the Paraguayan forward is attracting attention from clubs all over Europe.

And with Luis Suarez openly admitting he wants to leave Anfield, Liverpool are front runners to replace one South American striker with another.

"Every day I get numerous offers for Cardozo. He has offers from England, Italy and Turkey," said Pedro.

EX-MIDDLESBROUGH goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer's future at Fulham has been cast into doubt after Roma confirmed they had agreed to sell Maarten Stekelenburg to the Cottagers.

The Premier League side have long been linked with the Holland international, who almost moved to Craven Cottage in January.

The deal failed to materialise on deadline day, but now Martin Jol has got his man with Fulham reportedly set to pay just over £4m for the 30-year-old goalkeeper.

Roma's Franco Baldini, who is being strongly tipped to become Tottenham's new technical director, revealed he was in England last week to seal a deal with the London outfit.

"I went to London for the sale of Stekelenburg at Fulham," he said. "There were questions to be answered, but I closed a deal subject to the usual conditions."

FORMER Sunderland striker Anthony Stokes has rejected the offer of a new deal with Scottish champions Celtic.

The 24-year-old Irishman, who is due to become a free agent at the end of the month, endured a season of frustration as an ankle injury kept him on the sidelines for four-and-a-half months while his team-mates made a major impact in the Champions League.

The former Black Cats forward returned to fitness in time to score the winning goal in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Dundee United, and put in a man-of-the-match display against Hibernian in the final.

But Celtic boss Neil Lennon faces losing the player after he turned down a new deal.

Lennon said: "We have already made him an offer - he has knocked that back, but negotiations will be ongoing."
