GARETH Breese's chances of extending his Durham career beyond the end of this season have not been helped by his second injury of the campaign.
The Jamaican all-rounder again makes way for Ryan Pringle, who will make his fourth appearance in this season's YB40 competition in tomorrow's match at home to Lancashire.
In his tenth year with Durham, 37-year-old Breese is out of contract at the end of the season, but his return to the championship side has again been disrupted.
After playing in the win at Trent Bridge he was out for two weeks with a sore side, allowing fellow off-spinner Ryan Buckley to make his dream debut at the Oval.
Then Breese returned against Middlesex last week but has now suffered a torn muscle in the back of his shoulder and will be out for a month.
He was Durham's most economical Twenty20 bowler last season but could now miss the first two T20 games at home to Lancashire on June 28 and against Yorkshire at Scarborough two days later. There is then a five-day gap, so he should be ready for the rest of the programme.
Breese also missed a chunk of last season with a torn calf, suffered in a 40-over match at the Oval.
Durham will be looking to complete a YB 40 double over Lancashire, having won by five wickets at Old Trafford a month ago, when Phil Mustard made 91 from 86 balls. With two wins and two defeats, Durham are third in the group behind Hampshire and Surrey, while Lancashire have won only once.
There are no other changes in the Durham squad following Monday's win against Derbyshire.
Durham (from): M D Stoneman (capt), P Mustard, SG Borthwick, P D Collingwood, BA Stokes, G J Muchall, R D Pringle, W R Smith, C D Thorp, M A Wood, C Rushworth, G Onions.
