ROY Keane yesterday confirmed Ben Alnwick has probably played his last game for Sunderland, writes Will Scott.
The 19-yearold goalkeeper is sidelined with a shoulder injury, but will join Tottenham Hotspur when he makes a full recovery.
Marton Fulop, who joined the Black Cats on loan last week from White Hart Lane, will take Alnwick's place as Darren Ward's No 2. The Hungarian international is in Sunderland's squad for the trip to Loftus Road this evening as Trevor Carson misses out due to a family bereavement.
Alnwick, who slapped in a transfer request during the summer, was recently handed a new four-year contract after becoming the club's first-choice.
But he recently fell out of favour following a series of under-par performances and the experienced Ward took his place.
"We're looking to make Fulop permanent and Ben might go in the other direction," admitted Keane. "The Fulop deal was done late on Thursday. Ben's been injured and Marton's a good young hungry keeper.
"Marton will be involved but he understands how well Wardy has been playing and he'll have to wait for his chance.
"But he seems hungry and ambitious.
"Ward has done brilliantly and he will be hard to dislodge but you need a couple of top keepers challenging."
