HARTLEPOOL UNITED have confirmed former Middlesbrough defender Colin Cooper as their new manager.
Cooper, 46, has been appointed at Victoria Park and has named another ex-Boro man Craig Hignett as his assistant at Victoria Park.
After a couple of weeks negotiations since the departure of John Hughes, Cooper moves in to the manager's office at the Vic and will immediately try to revive a club relegated from League One last month.
The Trimdon-born former player has been working with Middlesbrough's Under-18s since 2011 after a spell working at Bradford City, where he had been a contender for the manager's job when Peter Jackson left.
