BRIGHTON manager Gus Poyet has been suspended along with assistant manager Mauricio Taricco and firstteam coach Charlie Oatway, the Championship club have confirmed.

It was last night reported that Poyet’s suspension comes after a clash with the club’s hierarchy over the budget he would have at his disposal for new signings this summer.

Brighton newspaper The Argus said Poyet, who is under contract until 2016, had refused to deal with the retained list announced by the club yesterday due to the fact he could be about to leave his post.

Brighton released three players – Vicente, Gary Dicker and Marcos Painter – while contract extensions were offered to Gordon Greer, Inigo Calderon, Ashley Barnes, Will Hoskins, Peter Brezovan, Adam El-Abd and David Lopez.

Poyet has been linked with Everton following the announcement that David Moyes would replace Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, while fellow Premier League side Fulham have also been touted as a possible destination.
