AIMEE Willmott will make her first post-Olympic appearance when she competes in this month's European Short Course Swimming Championships in France.

Willmott, who made the semi-finals of the 400m individual medley at this summer's Olympics, is part of an 18-strong British squad that will cross the Channel for the first international swimming championships since London 2012.

The 19-year-old Teessider has already committed to continuing to the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, and the European Short Courses, which take place between November 22-25, effectively mark the start of the new four-year Olympic cycle.

The British squad features a number of experienced swimmers, with Willmott joined by Hannah Miley, who won a silver and bronze at last year's competition, and fellow Olympians Robbie Renwick, Michael Rock and Siobhan-Marie O'Connor.

They will be joined by youngsters Jack Burnell, Lauren Quigley and Karley Mann, who took home medals from the US Open meet in August on their senior debuts. European Junior champions Joseph Patching and Molly Renshaw will also be included.

Mark Rose, head coach for the meet said: "We're looking forward to a fast meet in France. We know the Europeans will be up for swimming fast.

"We're looking forward to kicking off the first competition of the new quadrennial cycle with a good solid week."

The competition will be held at the Odyssey Complex in Chartres, and will see the introduction of mixed relay teams for the first time in international swimming.
