ALAN Shearer has been interviewed for the vacant managerial position at Championship club Ipswich Town.
Shearer has not been involved in management since leaving Newcastle United when they were relegated to the Championship at the end of the 2008-09 season.
However, he is keen to leave the Match Of The Day studio and return to the dug out, and has expressed an interest in replacing Paul Jewell.
He is understood to have been in Suffolk yesterday to discuss the vacancy with Ipswich officials.
Former Sunderland manager Mick McCarthy has also been linked with the job.
