I HAD to smile when I read the Last Word about a couple who had a mysterious bleep in their home (Echo, Oct 13).
The same thing happened to me.
A friend of mine came round when I heard a noise in my wardrobe and thought it was a bird.
When he opened the door he told me to stand back in case it flew out and a feather even dropped out.
It turned out to be a smoke alarm with an old battery.
