I AM very sorry to hear the sad news of the death of Herbert Lom who passed away at the age of 95 (Echo, Sept 28).
His 60-year career spanned 100 films and television shows although he is best remembered for his famous role as police chief Charles Dreyfus in the Pink Panther movies alongside the late Peter Sellers His first TV role was as the psychiatrist Dr Roger Corder in the ITV drama series The Human Jungle. It ran for two seasons from 1963-64.
He followed that with roles in El Cid, The Phantom of the Opera, Hell Drivers, The Ladykillers, Spartacus, Scoop and Hawaii Five-O.
Herbert Lom was an acting icon and his memory will live on.
