WHAT is really going on between Blackwell Golf Club and Darlington Borough Council?
Why has the council not invited members of Stressholme Golf Club, and all interested parties, to a meeting? A letter is surely no substitute for being able to express your own views.
This matter is not just about a golf course. It is also about a very valuable piece of property which, under the right management, could be a huge asset to the council and community. It is time Darlington’s MP, Jenny Chapman, was more openly involved in discussions.
Darlington Borough Council’s track record with major financial projects recently has, to say the least, left a lot to be desired.
Once upon a time, Blackwell Golf Club was one of the finest clubs in the area with a waiting list for membership of over five years. Those days have long gone and many ex-members are now at Stressholme. Does that not in itself speak volumes?
Why build houses on greenbelt land, if that is what is intended?
Surely there are plenty of brownfield sites in the borough?
Let us have some transparency from the council. So many questions remain to be answered.
D Allender, Darlington.
