ONE of my remaining pleasures is writing to the papers.
Sadly, on the subject of routinely arming the British bobby, there is nothing left to say following the Echo’s magnificent coverage (Echo, Sept 19).
The editorial plus the excellent article by former police officer Andy Redhead (Echo, Sept 20) has robbed me of all my words and sentiments. I hope others read your coverage and understood the difficulties of arming the police.
I congratulate you on putting a reasoned, sensible case on this emotive, though vital, topic.
Gerard Wild, Richmond .
