WITH an increasing proportion of the population living longer and facing the possibility of dementia it is right for it to be a subject for discussion.
This has been appreciated by the staff of the Teesside and Hartlepool Foundation Trust who organised a public meeting addressed by nurses who answered questions.
I am 84 and I live on my own. I sometimes have difficulty remembering things and occasionally repeat myself in conversations There is the question of how the community can identify the signs of dementia in other people and get them to seek medical advice.
Dementia is not a subject to be kept under wraps and associated with shame.
