MANY readers may know me from the years I spent as the fashion guru on the popular daytime show, This Morning. I am delighted to say that I also have another role, which is very important to me and close to my heart.

I am very proud to be a patron of Rainbow Trust children’s charity and have seen first-hand the vital support it offers to families of children with a life threatening or terminal illness.

In my capacity as a patron of this very special charity, I am writing to ask readers to get involved in The Big Hour cake sale, which is taking place between October 22-28.

Let’s all use the extra hour we get when the clocks go back in October to bake and sell delicious cakes to raise much needed funds for a charity that makes such a difference to the families it supports.

Getting involved couldn’t be easier. Simply visit thebighour.org.uk and register to receive your very own fundraising pack. The pack includes posters, invites, bunting, balloons and a host of easy recipes. On the website there’s a recipe to make your own rainbow cupcakes. Famous TV chefs and celebrities will also be contributing their own recipes to inspire you further.

Once you’re registered, it’s simply a case of spreading the word to let people know when and where you will be selling your cakes.

Rainbow Trust hopes The Big Hour cake sale will raise £50,000 this year, but it’s not all about big sums – £20 raised helps support a shattered mother who has been up all night with her sick child and £50 means support can be offered to help a family cope with the logistical and emotional pressures involved when attending hospital appointments.

Thank you in advance for your support and happy baking.
