LIKE Mick Peacock (HAS, Sept 8), I find myself flicking through the many radio stations to find anything that’s good to listen to. I like most types of music but, once again, the older generation is being discriminated against.
I bitterly regret the parting of Sir Terry Wogan and Sarah Kennedy.
There was always a good selection that appealed to most people on the morning programmes.
I’ve just finished listening to our own Colin Bunyan on Radio Tees.
He’s on every Sunday from 2pm to 5pm with Vintage Vinyl, which is music from the 1940s to the 1970s.
You’ll love him.
There’s Big Band Special on Radio 2 at 10pm for an hour on Sundays, after which there’s the lovely David Jacobs until midnight.
That’s “my kind of music”, but it is a pity it’s only on for an hour and so late – I just wish I could get to meet some of these programme makers.
Then there’s Desmond Carrington on Radio 2 on Friday nights at 7pm followed by Friday Night is Music Night until 10pm.
That’s the lot, and then I have to play CDs and tapes.
Good luck with your new MP3 player, Mick.
