THE Office of Fair Trading is reviewing the price of petrol and diesel (Echo, Sept 6).
A good starting point would be the amount of tax the Government creams off. Every time the prices go up at the pumps, the Government gets a bit more tax revenue.
A reduction in tax would go some way to help motorists and companies, but instead fuel tax increases are coming in January.
All governments see motorists as easy targets. We should go on a fuel-buying strike and wait to see whether oil companies or governments take any notice.
