OH! Jimmy Taylor of Coxhoe (HAS, Sept 5) how you brought memories flooding back to me with your letter about home shopping and the Co-op.
Before marriage, I lived in Darlington and we had printed grocery lists from the Co-op and I remember my mum sending me with a list to the Co-op for home delivery which I delivered to the store on my way to school. Then every Friday I would call at the Co-op, again on the way to school, to pay for the weekly milk tokens.
I even remember the divi number – 14773!
These two jobs ensured my pocket money.
