IT was most disappointing to learn that Save the Children is to focus its efforts on children within the UK due to rising levels of child poverty (Echo, Sept 8). It is obvious that 13 years of New Labour and a little over two years of the coalition that this problem has not been addressed.
As our children suffer, millions are poured daily into the coffers of the white elephant that is the European Union.
How that money could be used more wisely within the UK.
Does it take child mortality figures to spiral out of control before a reasoned stance is taken in respect of EU contributions?
