REGARDING the feature about a new study conducted into the possibility that cats could pose a health risk (Sept 6). Why are you scaring people at a time most rescue centres are unable to help anymore pets because they are so full?
Due the recession and people having no spare cash, the first thing that goes is a family pet.
I run Kays Hill Animal Sanctuary, and I do not dispute the fact that people need to practice good hygiene around animals, but to even suggest rehoming your cat because of it is morally wrong.
We are worried that we will get the backwash of this with cats being dumped at our gates, kicked out to fend for themselves or even killed. If people are worried and genuinely need to talk about their options, we can offer advice on 01388-834996.
