READING the new Darlington Together free paper I was drawn to an item regarding the dreaded wheelie bins we Darlington residents are expecting.
I think, as with everything, there is an issue with size.
Apparently, the average household will be getting a 240 litre bin that’s big enough to hold two or three average-sized black bags.
Pardon me for being sceptical, as I’m sure the powers that be will have thought this out, but what happens if a household has four average-sized black bags, but not enough room for a larger wheelie bin?
The new regulations and charges at the tip in Whessoe Road have already led to an increase in fly tipping.
There have been three instances in a week on Patches Lane, where I walk my dogs.
I fear that this will increase many times when people have filled their 240 litre wheelie bins and don’t want bags full of rubbish in their gardens or yards.
