WATCHING the news recently, I heard a protestor say: “I love Britain, but I hate the people who are running it.”
She may have meant politicians, but it also applies to certain bankers, employers and celebrity opinion makers who put personal greed before public welfare and create chaos at the expense of community.
It should not just be public service workers who are striking.
We all should protest rather than play a part in the systematic destruction of society.
Politicians who call themselves Labour implement cuts that damage the community rather than protest at the Tories.
Rather than consider Durham’s best interests, they defend their own patch and let areas without strong representation go to the dogs.
So, for example, Coxhoe and others have leisure centres and Ferryhill doesn’t.
