OH, how we love a good debate in this country.
A member of the audience on the BBCs Question Time recently asked the question: “Is boardroom pay out of control?”
This is nonsense, rather like asking whether the world is round or the Pope a Catholic.
This particular matter is no longer in question, with some executive pay having increased by 4,000 per cent in the last decade.
Discussion is no longer enough; nor is naming and shaming. We need a government that will use legislation to stop this greed.
However, I’m not holding my breath. A government stuffed with millionaires seems more determined, at a time of recession, to attack the weakest and poorest members of society, those least able to defend themselves.
Besides proposing a freeze in benefits, they’re giving vast amounts of public money to a private company and instructing them to harass and coerce the sick and disabled into employment that simply doesn’t exist.
No wonder migration from the UK is on the increase (Echo, Nov 25).
