I WAS disgusted with the disgraceful acts carried out by Sergeant Gordon Hill, who I served with in 1st Battalion, The King’s Regiment before it became the Duke of Lancasters Regiment (Echo, Nov 17).
Sgt Hill stole war medals from his comrades and sold them on eBay.
Setting aside the political reasons why our troops were sent to Iraq and Afghanistan, those men who had their medals stolen will be feeling sick that someone whom they trusted with their lives on the battlefield can have such contempt for them.
Sgt Hill had a history of stealing and at one point was busted from Corporal to Kingsman, so why he was allowed to carry on with his military career? Only the Army can tell us.
Talking to friends still in the battalion, they are very upset and angry.
Prisoner Hill will never be able to attend any of our reunions.
Pete Molloy, Spennymoor.
