I WOULD like to know how the National Association of Head Teachers can justify a strike when only 53.6 per cent of its members voted.

Only 75 to 89 per cent of these were in favour of striking, this represents 40.6 of the total membership – hardly a majority.

It is time this government passed legislation stating that unions can only strike when a majority of the total membership is in favour.

I would add that I am disgusted with the action of the headteachers. Many in the private sector would love pensions such as they receive.

They should also be setting a much better example to their pupils.
