LAST year my eight year old daughter, Emilia, had money stolen from her birthday card.
The envelope had been taped down but it had still been ripped open along the top and the money was missing.
The gift was from her grandmother to put towards something nice for the Amateur Swimming Association’s National Swimtastic Awards ceremony that she was due to attend.
Emilia had been nominated for a fundraising award.
Our complaint to the Post Office only resulted in a complimentary book of stamps.
This year my brother posted a card and gift voucher by recorded delivery.
This envelope had been opened along the seal, the gift voucher removed and the flap folded back into the envelope.
Having complained on the doorstep to the postman and listened to the Post Office’s answering service it looks like I will be issued with another complimentary book of stamps.
The only way that a person may get compensated in full is if the letter/parcel is sent by special delivery rather than recorded delivery.
Emilia is now asking the question “why me?” and believes that she is being targeted.
I think it is despicable for this to happen but especially to a young girl who, in the last two years, has raised nearly £1,000 for charity.
