I was interested to read the tributes to broadcaster and charity worker Sir Jimmy Saville, who has died aged 84 (Echo, October 31).
As well as being a humorous characte, Sir Jimmy was equally well known for his words of wisdom.
Of course, the most famous were "how's about that then?" and "now then, now then".
When the pop music revolution reached the BBC, by way of Radio One in 1967, Sir Jimmy thought the best was at the end when the studio announcer said: "Here is the news - in English."
He was also credited with describing Two-Way Family Favourites as "the names and addresses show".
