I AM absolutely disgusted by the Wilson family from the Meadowell Estate, Tyneside, who were recently highlighted on Look North. They said that the £500 they received in benefits every week was not enough.

I have two jobs, my main job being a custody officer and my second job being a relief support worker which I do at weekends and bank holidays. My average take home pay from both these jobs totals around £380 a week.

If they can't manage on £500 a week in benefits, why have they had three children and have another on the way?

OBSCENITY

I started last Sunday morning in quite a good mood. Unfortunately, the mood wasn't to last. Three facts in my morning paper started my downward spiral. Firstly, Baroness Thatcher, the woman who tore the heart out of our region and condemned so many to a life on benefits, has since 2006 claimed £535,000 in benefits.

This is a public duties cost allowance available to all ex-Prime Ministers. Not bad considering she is rarely seen in public.

Secondly, Victoria Beckham has made £15m this year from her fashion lines while her husband David gets £26a a year from LA Galaxy.

These facts are obscene when so many live in abject poverty
