I WENT to a meeting of the Derwent Valley Partnership on October 26 where questions were asked about the Consett leisure and swimming facilities.
There was no officer of the council in attendance and no cabinet councillor was able to give any answers. I have not heard any answers in all the partnership meetings I have attended. So, in the absence of any answers I will provide mine.
Public use will be greatly reduced, at the moment the public have 67 per cent of the usage at the swim centre.
It will be smaller because the original funds of just under £15m will be reduce by at least £3m to pay to move the football club and this was not in the original scheme.
The school academy will run it and therefore will have priority for most of the day.
I stand to be corrected by the council in the near future.
D Llewellyn, Consett.
