SEE and be seen was a safety slogan for some years, with particular emphasis on cyclists.
I think it was quite a successful campaign with a variety of clothing and luminous paint on bicycles becoming very prominent and easy to see.
However, I am becoming increasingly concerned about the number of vehicles I see, particularly towards evening and early in the morning, with defective headlights.
It is quite understandable not to realise you have a defective rear light, but those drivers who drive on only one front headlight must surely be aware of it.
My plea is for drivers to show a more responsible attitude towards this because winter, with all its inherent dangers, is nearly upon us.
Can I suggest the next time people are driving at night they do their own survey? They will be surprised at the results.
