IN answer to John Gilmore (HAS, Oct 24), Colonel Gaddafi’s death was an act of retribution for all of the men, women and children he had tortured and then murdered without trial.

It was also for all the soldiers and citizens who were shot or blown up in Ireland through the arms, ammunition and bombmaking material supplied by Gaddafi’s regime, the poor people aboard the Lockerbie jumbo that was blown out of the sky by one of Gaddafi’s henchmen and WPC Fletcher, gunned down in London.

Were they given a trial, Mr Gilmore?

Harry Hail, Stanhope.
