THE story about a 13-year-old boy who had to be rescued after climbing up the outside of a 30ft tube slide (Echo, Oct 17) reminded me of the antics of Richmal Crompton’s William Brown and his Outlaws (aka Just William).
They were among the favourite books of my childhood.
Considering the equipment in the play park was 30ft high, I think it took a considerable amount of courage to get to the top even though the lad was eventually too scared to move.
I do hope that he didn’t get into too much trouble from his parents. I see a great future for him in the SAS.
Bill Callen, Richmond.
