IT is high time that motorists were called to account for their behaviour towards pedestrians.
Not content with obstructing pavements with their vehicles, so forcing pedestrians onto roads, or deliberately splashing them in wet weather, they also seem to consider that driving over pavements to reach their destination as their priority, regardless that a pedestrian is walking in front of them.
Only this morning, I was abused by a motorist attempting to enter a garage forecourt as I was walking along a pavement.
She seemed to be under the impression that I should have jumped out of her way as she drove across the kerb.
If a car has to cross a pavement, then the priority lies with the pedestrian using it.
The consequences of knocking down a person are far more grave than waiting a few patient seconds for a pedestrian to pass on their legitimate way.
