THE cracks are appearing in the Coalition Government’s budget deficit strategy.
Whether it’s education, social care, the NHS, the police or even the Armed Forces the message from this government is clear: cut, cut and cut even more.
We all know our finances are in a mess, but in wielding the axe, it is not bankers’ bonuses that are risked but redundancies among what are referred to as middle managers.
I wonder how long the Liberal Democrats will hang in with the Conservatives, who are pursuing an agenda that is about protecting the interests of its backers – bankers and the very people who caused the mess we are in.
Regulation is only reserved for the poor.
Surely, somewhere conscience has to prevail.
Bernie Walsh, Coxhoe.
