I HAVE been a home care worker for nearly two years and like to think that I do my job properly.

All of our visits are at times to suit each client’s individual needs. The length of each call varies, with the shortest time being 15 minutes.

I, and the vast majority of home care workers, stay way longer to ensure tasks are done and making sure clients’ needs are met. This extra time is unpaid.

Two years into home care working I have never come across clients who have been left in bed for 17 hours, soiled beds or carers staying less than the call duration time.

The standard of care is well above what you could expect from times allocated to meet clients needs.
