IS it now the case that David Cameron is blaming the economic crisis on my next door neighbour, Mrs Jones – a retired civil servant who has had the audacity to live beyond 70 years of age?

Moreover, former teacher Mr Smith, who lives in the end terrace, is approaching 73 and drawing his pension without any consideration for the drain this is putting on the public purse.

Surely, only the rich should be allowed to live past 70?

Perhaps I can refer the Prime Minister to a potential blueprint for a new policy – a film called Logan’s Run.
