MANY people living with a disability or long-term health condition feel their views aren’t being heard by those who represent them in local and national politics.
We’re delighted that Redcar MP Ian Swales has pledged his support for Radar’s dialogue scheme. It is vital MPs hear from their disabled constituents about the issues that affect them.
The dialogue scheme gets disabled people and their MPs talking. It gives practical support on setting up a meeting with an MP and offers small grants to help towards the costs – such as paying for a taxi if someone can’t use public transport.
We want the scheme to not only get people talking, but to give disabled people the chance to think about becoming an MP or a councillor themselves – as too few are represented in public life.
If you would like to take part email campaigns@radar.org.uk or call Cheryl Gowar on 0207-503- 6176.
