THE RSPCA is writing to ask for urgent support to encourage your local MP to attend a debate and vote for a ban on the use of wild animals in circuses on Thursday, June 23.
A backbench debate at the House of Commons will take place to raise this issue and urge the Government to rethink its strategy for licensing the use of wild animals in circuses.
It is vitally important that as many MPs as possible attend and vote.
We are co-hosting a drop-in surgery in the Boothroyd Room in Portcullis House from 2pm – 4pm to answer any questions MPs may have.
The RSPCA believes wild animals simply should not be used as part of circuses.
Successive polls show the majority of the public agree.
It is clearly wrong for animals like elephants, tigers and lions to be housed in enclosures that are far too small and spend most of the summer season being moved from site to site.
